In relation to SH5 (Napier – Taupo), Waka Kotahi has announced the introduction of convoys on a restricted basis. Hese are the key roading corridors affected and alternative routes currently in use: Impacted State Highway connections to Northland, Gisborne/Tairawhiti, Hawke’s Bay, and parts of the Coromandel have necessitated the use of alternate routes, incurring additional time and distance in order to maintain freight services into these areas. Continued wet weather has delayed reinstatement of affected roads or caused further damage to roading infrastructure.
